|Highlights of History & Past Activities
Founded in 2004, the OngDance Company has been actively involved not only in promoting the cross-cultural understanding and appreciation of Korean artistry, but also in engaging communities to connect individuals to their own cultural backgrounds, strengthening community identity, and finding a new direction for the future.
The OngDance Company is a performing and educational dance organization; we create and perform new pieces at the various venues and offer Korean dance classes and workshops to all ages and backgrounds.
The OngDance Company has performed throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including performances at the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco Minsok Festivals, and Asian Heritage Street Festival.
We have also given numerous workshops in San Francisco to engage our broad and diverse communities such as at World Arts Wests People Like Me, Westwave Dance Festival, Asian American Dance Performance, Tradewinds, and Bay Area National Dance Week.
The OngDance Company also has been an active Korean dance institution, providing instruction in Korean performing arts to Bay Area Korean youth.
In 2005, it was the recipient of the Ethnic Dance Choreography Commission Award from World Arts West and The San Francisco Foundation. Also in 2006, the OngDance Company was honored with the prestigious Isadora Duncan Award for outstanding company achievement.

Founded in 2004, the OngDance Company has a vision to bring out the hidden beauty of traditional Korean dance in order to create artistic styles that coincide with our rapidly changing society.
The OngDance Company is committed to push the boundaries of ethnic dance forward into the 21st century, create art and an art experience that mirrors and challenges the diversity of the Bay Area and Bay Area dance, bring Korean dancers together with non-Koreans, share the history and culture of Korea with the Bay Area community, and actively engage audience members in the joys and challenges of movement.
